Uitgangspunten:
- we gaan uit van Ubuntu en dan de komende LTS editie (Long Time Support), 10.04 Op dit moment wordt getest en ontwikkeld met 9.10 Cap-Frankrijk heeft grote Ubuntu projecten gedaan,, draagkracht is zodoende groter. - we gebruiken geen tricky PPA's - we gaan vanwege matige beschikbaarheid, performance en compatibiliteit van software op 64 bits uit van 32 bits OS. - Uitrol OS = engels talig. - HOWTO's zijn Engelstalig. - Uiteindelijke product moet EM-proof zijn.
RoadMap:
- eind april 2010 : Definitieve Ubuntu 10.04 - eind mei 2010 : gereed voor beta-testers - vanaf begin mei 2010 : ontwikkelen repository's en scripting - eind juli 2010 : kant-en-klaar beschibaar.
Actiepunten:

Windows Software (niet beschikbaar voor Linux)
Voorstel is om de te gebruiken OpenSource software welke veel door cap gebruikt wordt, zoals Niku, samen in 1 standaard package te bouwen. Voor VirtualBox kunnen we waarschijnlijk gebruikmaken van de bestaande XP Licentie van Cap. Visio is niet best qua performance.

- Openoffice - The gimp (eventueel uitgebreid met de Photoshop-frontend gimpshop - gthump, werkt voor de meeste gebruikers het prettigste - VirtualBox - In eerste instantie te gebruiken om de bestaande Vista-PPT te imagen, zodat gebruikers over hun oude "PC" kunnen beschikken, uiteindelijk kan deze weg. - In 2e instantie om Windows applicaties die niet onder Wine draaien te runnen, hiervoor XP met Cap licentie te gebruiken. - wine + winetrick script - Remote Desktop viewer - remote desktop (voor toekomstig Service-desk support) - Empathy (msn en Cap messenger) - Skype 2.1.0 - Cisco Any Connect VPN Client - Evolution (werkt grotendeels) - Sun Java (JRE) 6 - FireFox 3.6 - Google Chrome - Workrave (is Open Source Workpace alternatief en 'verplicht' in Nederland) ==> Roland ? - Truecrypt ===> Roland: hoe ? - Clamav - MS Office 2007 (Word/Excel/Outlook/Powerpoint) legale Cap versie, wordt als deb file uitgerold - standaard uitrollen met functionerende compiz - Open-Work-Bench - geconfigureerde PDF-printer (instructie Roland) - Adobe Reader 9 - FB Reader (epub etc)
Discussiepunten:
- mail archief (omzetten pst naar ander formaat met lokale imap server?)
Speciale support voor
- iPhone synchronisatie iTunes alleen met VirtualBox, onder Linux werkt Rythmbox wel goed. - Nokia - Blackberry - Windows Mobile 5 + 6 synchronisatie
Drivers en codec's:
Met 10.04 is bijna alles out-of-the-box in orde enige punt van uitzoeken is de card-reader aan de voorzijde bij de dikke T61's zou opgelost zijn met: sudo apt-get install libccid pcscd
Niet default te installeren, maar wel beschikbaar hebben:
- Ontwikkeltools Bluefish, Eclipse, MySQL Administrator, Ultra Edit, Oracle SQL Developper
